Is Your Property Suitable?

To be considered by CO2 Australia, your property must:

  • be Kyoto Protocol compliant, meaning the property must have been cleared of forest prior to 31 December 1989,
  • have in excess of 50 hectares available for mallee plantings,
  • receive at least 350mm average rainfall per annum,
  • be freehold land; and
  • meet required criteria for soil type (sandy/loam) and depth.

If you happen to know a little more about your soil, ideally we are looking for loam or sand soil types that meet minimum soil depth criteria allowing the mallees to extend their root system deep underground. We also have minimum soil salinity criteria that must be met. Participating landholders will be required to enter into a carbon sequestration agreement with CO2 Australia which will require registration on title.
