Reforestation Project Structure

A typical project structure would see CO2 Australia engaged as manager, to establish and maintain a carbon sink that the client owns. This includes providing genetically superior seed stock, land acquisition services, legal covenants including Carbon Sequestration Rights on title of the land, accreditation compliance, site preparation and planting services and carbon permit generation services.

Contract Length

Our agreements extend to up to 50 years. The forest carbon sink asset is saleable to a third party at any point during the term.

Land

The owner of the land can be the client, a third party landholder, or CO2 Australia. In all cases, a Carbon Sequestration Right is registered on title of the land to ensure the client has full ownership of the forest carbon sink asset.

Fees

CO2 Australia charges fixed establishment and management fees. An initial establishment fee is required up front, followed by annual management fees required to maintain the forest carbon sink.

Capacity to Deliver

Through a sophisticated land access model, CO2 Australia is able to service clients whose emissions profiles are in excess of two million tonnes of CO2e per annum. In his final report, Professor Garnaut estimated that within Australia, 9.1 million hectares of land is potentially suitable for carbon plantings.

Due Diligence

CO2 Australia has two up to date data rooms in Melbourne and Perth that can be opened to potential clients to assist them with their due diligence processes. The data rooms contain a comprehensive set of corporate and management reports as well as robust, independent research relating to our projects.

Guarantee

CO2 Australia will provide a 12 month period to ensure stocking rates are at a level that is likely to achieve the targeted carbon sequestration rates. CO2 Group Limited, the parent company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, will guarantee the performance of CO2 Australia to ensure the forest carbon sink asset is built to the highest quality specifications. CO2 Australia engages independent foresters to ensure the forest carbon sink asset development is to specification.
