Australia’s largest provider of dedicated forest carbon sink plantings, CO2 Australia, a wholly owned subsidiary of publicly listed CO2 Group Limited, won the 2009 Business3000 Award at a ceremony in Melbourne last night.
The awards made by Business3000 promote business success and excellence in Melbourne. The achievements and innovation of Melbourne businesses are acknowledged and recognised through this annual awards program.
CO2 Australia, which is based in South Melbourne, won the Innovation category.
CO2 Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr Andrew Grant, said that CO2 Group was pleased to be acknowledged in this way and he was delighted to accept it on behalf of the Group and the whole CO2 team.
“The Business3000 Award underlines the confidence held by the business sector in the work we are doing. We are delighted to see this confidence translating into tangible interest in offsets based on commercial forest carbon sink plantings,” Mr Grant said.
“This is also a real tick for our vision which is to create a better climate for all Australians through being the leader in providing cost-effective solutions to the threat of climate change.
“In its own way this Award helps highlight the benefits to climate, landscape and regional economies delivered by CO2 Australia’s dedicated forest carbon sink plantings. We know they provide a compelling commercial approach to offsetting greenhouse gas emissions; this Award helps broadcast that compelling case,” Mr Grant said.
CO2 Group’s partners including Woodside Energy, Eraring Energy, INPEX Browse, Origin Energy, Qantas Airways, Macquarie Bank, Wannon Water Corporation, City of Sydney, Big Day Out and the Victorian Government.
