As one of only three service providers for the Australian Government’s 20 Million Trees Program, CO2 Australia has been engaged by the Department of the Environment to deliver seven large-scale revegetation projects across Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia and Victoria.
The 20 Million Trees Programme — an Australian Government initiative that is part of the National Landcare Programme — is an initiative designed to protect and restore the environment and make agriculture more sustainable and productive.
In total, the Australian Government has committed $50 million to the 20 Million Trees Programme to fund the planting of 20 million trees by year 2020.
The projects involve the planting of more than three million native species of trees to revegetate over 2,400 hectares of cleared land. All of our projects have been carefully designed to restore habitat for critically endangered species and improve the integrity and connectivity of threatened ecological communities on private land and within the protected area estate.
In delivering these projects, we will work closely with landholders and our project partners – including Murrumbidgee Landcare, Noosa & District Landcare, Queensland Trust for Nature, World Wide Fund for Nature, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and Parks Victoria.
