It is easy to be sceptical about climate change because it takes less effort than embracing change of this size and nature. I think many people are still uncomfortable with the concept of climate change and perhaps this is due to a lack of understanding or over-complication by politics and the media. But I don’t think avoiding inevitable change is going to help anyone and the best course of action is to put ourselves on a low carbon budget. From where we sit, picking holes and arguing about minor grievances misses the fundamental truth about greenhouse gas emissions. For a start, the planet doesn’t care whether we think it is changing or not. Unlike most human affairs the laws of physics are not affected by popularity contests, celebrity gossip, personal opinions or any of the other ways we interpret the world around us. This means whether we like or not and whether we happen to believe it or not, the temperature of the planet is going to get warmer the more we put greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
